What are Retrieval Tools?

Retrieval Tools work in a similar way to RAG Tools, but without the generation step. Retrieval Tools are essentially semantic search tools that search for embedded chunks and return links to original documents. 

These tools can be used to look up documents like instructions, manuals, or documents containing a large volume of images when it is more valuable to return only links to original documents rather than generate a text response for the user.
